Frequently Asked Questions
What are MX records?
MX (Mail Exchanger) records tell other mail servers which hosts accept incoming email for your domain. Each MX record has a priority; lower numbers have higher priority.
What is STARTTLS?
STARTTLS is a protocol extension that upgrades a plain-text SMTP connection to TLS encryption. It protects email in transit between mail servers. Mail servers that do not support STARTTLS transmit email in clear text.
What TLS version should my mail server use?
Your mail server should negotiate TLS 1.2 at minimum; TLS 1.3 is preferred. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are deprecated and should be disabled.
